...the Everyman gig was good fun, despite the odd forgotten line and exploding effects box (no doubt sabotaged by the same guy who stole Maurices car complete with drumkit the weekend before the gig - if anyone in a battered Opel Kadett tries to sell you an even more battered Pearl kit with 100 different types of drumsticks, give us a shout). Rehersals are ongoing for the new album - rumour has it it will feature more knee-slapping and handclaps than previously planned....

..Boa Morte play the Everyman Theatre, Cork as part of the annual mid-Summer festival. Also on the bill: Annette Buckley, Niall Connolly and special guests Woodstar. Expect to hear a few new songs. Tickets on sale now, 15 euros, doors 9pm.
June 15th
....Boa Morte make their Kilkenny debut in the legendary Cleeres . Special guest on the night will be the wonderful Mumblin' Deaf Ro. Coming out of Dublin, Mumblin' Deaf Ro released his debut album ' Senor, my friend...' to universal acclaim. A gifted songwriting storyteller, you'll be humming these tunes and recalling lyrics well into the year. Doors 9pm, 6 squids in.

..BM offshoots Re d'Italia and Clarence Black are both busy recording over the month. Clarence Black are going the low budget route with a four-track and computers while the flusher Re d'Italia are off to Sun Studios in Dublin with the semi-legendary Marc Carolan. We must post up some mp3's when it's all ready.

..had a great time with the Fanclub. We're not planning any gigs in the near future as we settle down to some serious demoing/arranging/constructing/deconstructing songs in preparation for recording the new album, hopefully sometime in early Summer. So far so good, things are sounding great....expect a preview mp3 up here soon.

David Kitt plays The Everyman Theatre in Cork and we'll be there supporting him. Following the remarkable success of his album, The Big Romance, and having won both the Best Irish Solo Male at the Meteor Awards last March, and 'Songwriter of the Year' gong from Hot Press, Kitt returns to Cork after a long absence with a full band including Graham Hopkins (ex-Therapy, Gemma Hayes), Brian Mooney (ex-The Idiots), Ritchie Egan (The Redneck Manifesto) and Paul Smyth (The Jimmy Cake). Kitt's live outings have always been spectacular successes, as proved by last year's Witness performance, which nearly had to be cancelled, such was the eagerness to hear the Kittser. December 13th
Boa Morte return to Dublin for a bit of Christmas shopping and a gig in the Lower Deck. It's the first Dublin gig since the release of the album.
December 7th
Their first Lobby gig in ages sees Boa Morte playing with by much touted Dubliner Adrian Crowley.

July 26th
Just back to the real world after 10 days of playing in great places with great people. Thanks to Major Matt, The Beauty Shop, Francis and all in Shoeshine for being part of such an amazing time. The Boa Morte scanner is working overtime to get some photos up on the photo page.
The album is out and selling well, even though some availability problems are reported from around the country. The record company has been on to the distributer to sort it out, so bear with us. Stay tuned for news of further gigs.

Early May
At long last, our debut album is about to see the light of day, thanks to those wonderful people in Shoeshine Records in Glasgow.
Entitled 'Soon It Will Come Time To Face The World Outside' , a UK/Ireland release date has been set for June 17th. Come back soon for a full track listing and sleeve shots etc...

The first gig of the new year is happening in The Lobby Bar. Expect to hear a lot of new stuff. It's a double headliner with the magnificent Dublin lo-fi outfit The Dudley Corporation, who have a new album just released.
Doors 8.30pm. Admission 7 euros.

Ongoing stuff
We're taking a short break from the live scene to get ourselves organised. A video for 'Maginot Line' starts production in early December. The whole contractual chaos is coming to a conclusion so we should be able to move forward again pretty soon. Look out for live dates in Cork and Dublin early in the new year.

Friday July 13th
It hit us too late to get on the site in advance, but Friday the 13th saw us in the Triskel with the one and only Howe Gelb. We tried some new stuff, which worked out well. Howe was all over the place, in a really good way and afterwards we all headed to the Spailpin Fanach for a few well deserved lemonades.

High Noon is an all day lo-fi/alt-country festival happening in Mertyleville, near Crosshaven in Co. Cork. Boa Morte have been added to the international line up. Full details at the High Noon website.

The rough mixes are in, artwork and CDs are ping-ponging trans-atlantic. Progress is slow but we're getting there. A couple of gigs are being planned for March, including a follow-on to last years Straight Convention in The Lobby Bar, featuring a posse of Corks best lo-fi and beat poet talent. Confirmation soon.

Mid-October
With recording complete, mixing takes place this month in Paris, with Daniel Presley, who produced the album, behind the desk. Daniel has previously worked with Smog, The Breeders and American Music Club, amongst others. Expect a sample mp3 on the music page soon afterwards.

Boa Morte enter Temple Lane Studios in Dublin to complete the recording of their debut album. It looks like mixing will be in Paris in October, so things are looking good for a release date early in the New Year. In the meantime, get along to the music page for a taster.
