where and how....
Having existed under a few different guises over the years, Boa Morte came together in Cork, Ireland at the start of 1998. Their well recieved, self-financed "Passenger, measure your time" E.P. released in 1998 generated a lot of record company interest which culminated in the band signing a recording deal with an American label in 1999.
Recording of their debut album was completed in Dublin in late 2000 with producer Daniel Presley, well respected for his previous work with Spain and The Breeders amongst others. Further recording and mixing occured through 2001. Complications with the American deal delayed and eventually postponed the release of the album.
Shoeshine Records in Glasgow came to the rescue and in July 2002 Boa Morte's debut album 'Soon it will come time to face the world outside' was released to widespread critical acclaim. (Read some reviews here).
The band have gigged extensively, supporting the likes of Teenage Fanclub, The Pernice Brothers and Howe Gelb as well as playing headline shows around Ireland and an extensive UK tour with label-mates The Beauty Shop and Major Matt Mason USA.
2003 sees the band preparing for the recording of their follow-up to 'Soon...'.
