About Clare Haven’s Fundraising …………………

Voluntary fundraising plays a vital role in funding  services for women and their children experiencing domestic violence and abuse in their homes throughout County Clare and further afield. Each year, we are involved in a range of events. These events are run locally and nationally.

  • Local level activities include:  Church Gate Collections, Clare 10k Move with the People Mini Marathon, Shaveathons, Coffee mornings, Christmas card sales, Easter Basket campaign, Garden walks etc.
  • On a National level we participate in the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon each June Bank Holiday Monday.
  • Your help will be most appreciated in any event you like to support or help out.

16 Days Campaign on Action and Awareness on Violence against Women

The 16 Days Campaign is an international campaign started in 1991 by the centre for women’s global leadership in New Jersey. It begins on the 25th November (International day opposing violence against women) until the 10th December (International Human Rights Day)

During these 16 Days Clare Haven Services are committed to raising awareness on Domestic Violence issues throughout the county.

Events taking place during the 16 Days:

  • This year Clare Haven Services in conjunction with Adapt Services, and the Mid West Regional Planning Committee on Violence Against Women has launched ‘Good Practice Guidelines for Violence against Women Prevention Education on Post Primary Education Sector’.   Following the launch Clare Haven Services are involved in piloting a programme for senior cycle students in a number of post-primary schools, Youthreach and Senior Traveller training Centres in Clare.  This programme will focus on Healthy Relationships for young people.
  • During the 16 Days we are displaying a booklet in the Friary Ennis to remember all the women that have been murdered in Ireland through Domestic Violence. Each day we will place a fresh lily beside the booklet (sponsored by Mulqueen’s Florist)
  • Clare Haven Services will holding a number of awareness raising talks with community and voluntary groups around Co. Clare. Please contact us on 065-6842646 if you would like us to come and speak to a group.
  • Behind Closed Doors – Last year Clare Haven Services launched our Behind Closed Doors Campaign.  We requested businesses, employers and services to display stickers on the back of their toilet doors with our helpline number on this. This campaign was very successful and resulted in an increase in women who are experiencing abuse presenting to our service. This year we invite businesses, employers, pubs, restaurants, shops etc. to display the stickers once again. If you would like a sticker pack please contact us on 065-6842646 and we will arrange for them to be posted to you.

The 16 Days of Action and Awareness Campaign is funded by COSC, the National Office for the Prevention of Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Ireland.
