We are the Champions
On Friday night in the RSC in Waterford, Shelbourne bridged
an eight year gap into their 3rd century, as newly crowned
National League champions of Ireland.
In a pretty much poxy game (who cares ?) first half goals
from Stephen Geogho & Richie Baker ensured maximum points
to see the Real Reds ease into an unassailable 15 point
lead over the eternal bridesmaids, second placed Bohemians,
who couldn’t even beat UCD at home (ha ha !)

Much later, back in the Tolka Park bar, captain Pat Scully
dedicated the victory to all those who had been so bitterly
disappointed 2 years ago in Oriel Park. Manager Dermot
Keely, in his own inimitable fashion, said, “ next I’ll
win youse something Shels has never done before – but
something I’ve won 8 times (?) before - THE DOUBLE.
