All Real Reds – get ready to party in the second week in April, when Shelbourne’s two remaining home league fixtures take place, versus the Drogs on Tuesday 11th & versus the Candystripes on Friday 14th. It’s now a question of ‘When’ we win the league, rather than ‘If’ we win . With Shels remaining on the road for the next 3 weeks (barring a cup replay, provisionally fixed for Monday 6th April), there is no real rush to make the title mathematically secure until the celebrations can begin in earnest, in front of a home crowd in Tolka Park. The last league fixture, away to the Hooped Scum on Easter Sunday, is reserved for doing a lap of honour around the track in Morton Stadium.

21/01/00 - Supporters - Submitted By - Northside Reds
Northside Reds, the alternative Shelbourne Supporters Club, are propsing that all national League fans should boycott going to matches in Santry staduim for this season. After the scence which ruined the all ready damaged image of League of Ireland football, by Shamrock Rovers supporters it should be made clear that these scences of hooliganism and racist behavoiur are not tolerated or wanted at league of ireland grounds. As a mark of Protest No Northside Reds members will be at the game schuelded for 21.4.2000 in Santry Staduim. We ask other League of Ireland Supporters and supporter clubs, to follow our example. If you agree with this, can you please write to northsidereds@eircom.net

Bangor Celtic have secured squatters rights in the Stadium of Shite for the Cup game against Shels. The Inchicore slum would of course have been idle that weekend, as the junkies got dumped out of the cup by Galway. The Crumlin side are probably hoping for some surrogate support from the junkies, whose season is already over.

The game against Finn Harps due to take place next Friday has been brought forward to Thursday the 25th of November to avoid clashing with the live St. Pats game.

Fintino's Shels Site was nominated the Irish Times Website of the Week this week in Mary Hannigan's Planet Football Coulumn. Cheers Mary. Here is what was said:

"Fintino's Shels Site http://homepage.tinet.ie/ fintanod/shels/ If it's blunt, honest National League match reports you're after then this could be the site for you - eg "Shels 1-0 Drogheda. Davy Campbell in the first half, sweet strike. No help from `A N ANOTHER' the `stockin', he blocked a Geogho sitter bound for goal and send about 40 balls in to the Tolka. Sap. 3-1 to the toffee noses. Hahahaha Rovers."

"Take a bow Fintan O'Dowd, the man behind this unofficial Shelbourne site which provides most of the information you'd expect to find on an official site (match reports, player profiles, fixtures, etc) but offers plenty of supporters' opinions too (there's a "National League soapbox" section), making it one of the best-run fan sites around."

Thanks again to the Red Bull for his major contribution to this site's glories, aswell as all that contribute and afvise on the site

21/9/99 - Around Tolka - Submitted By - Red Bull
Tolka Park is to host the first live televised NL game of the season on October 22nd when Shels are at home to the Candystripes. Originally, RTE had scheduled to show the Pats V Rovers game on that same Friday night date, but the Gardai intervened. They have ruled that all games between the Junkies & the Homeless scum, must be played during daytime. That game will now be switched to either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

21/9/99 - Around Tolka - Submitted By - Fintan O'Dowd
Tolka is to hold an innovative and exciting new half-time competition. Each programme will have a number, and the lucky number each week will win its owner the right to take a penalty in Tolka Park. This situation is complicated by the goalmouth, which will be covered but for 3 holes -a large, medium and small. Get the ball into the large hole and win a Shels jersey, get it into the medium sized one and win a cash sum, and slot home into the small hole and win yourself a car. An excellent money raising idea, as it will boost programme sales. Congratulations and best wishes to all involved. The new stand is now well under way, and it is hoped the stand will be completed by Februrary. The foundations are now in. Watch out for a 'new stand' feature on this site very soon.....Meanwhile Stephen Gifford has been transfer listed at his own request.

5/9/99 - Around Tolka - Tolka Park is to get its own electronic scoreboard, which is currently being installed. It will be the first of it's kind in the National League. Another first for Shels. The foundations for the new stand have been put in place, and the stand may be completed by Christmas. In the new-look matchday programme, one can now sponsor a player from the Shels squad. However, rumours that Eircell and Esat are going to court over who sponsors Stephen Geoghegan are completely unfounded. If you would like to sponsor a player, contact our new Commercial Manager Alan Williams at 8375536.

23/8/99 - Red Bull- Red Bull has finally returned from his travels and will be back in action, reporting on the League Cup game from Whitehall next weekend. Our correspondent, who was at the Red Bull Flugtag event in the Dublin Docklands Festival yesterday, says that, " none of flying machines in George's Dock, made a more spectacular nosedive than the early season form of St Patrick's Athletic."

13/8/99 - Official Supporters Club - There is a general meeting of the Supporters Club in Tolks Park on Thursday 26th of August at 8pm. There will be a quiz, and hopefully 2 guest speakers, most likely Dermot Keely and a player.

13/8/99 - Suspensions - Pat Scully has recieved a 1 match suspension for his sending off in the Super Cup. He will miss the first League Cup game at the end of August.

10/8/99 - Friendly - Shels 1-0 Man Utd XI - Shels beat a Man U youth team 1-0 last night thanks to a Richie Baker goal in the first half. A crowd of 7,000 watched this game, well the first half at least - a few Man U fans left at half time. They claimed to be disgusted at the lack for famous names in the Man U team, but were probably pissed that Shels were running the show. Richie Baker looked the best player on the field, constantly torturing the Man U defense. Despite the shambolic Man U side, Shels did rise to the occasion, and it was a good team performance. Stephen Geoghegan showed a hunger that he was badly lacking last season, and with Haylock's power and strength, and the Bakers on the flanks, the Shels attackers gave Man U a lot of trouble. It was good to see Nutsy Fenlon back playing in midfield, and Carl Vandervelden again proving an excellent signing. The Shels defence was also excellent, with Pat Scully, Tony McCarthy, Declan Geoghegan and Owen Heery keeping Man U at bay for most of the game. Owen Heery limped off the field at the end of the first half, but hopefully should be ok for our first League game against Galway United on friday. Dessie Baker was stretchered off late in the game, after a Man U kiddie pushed him in the face, seemingly accidentally. This was the first of three friendlies Shels get against Man Utd as part of the new coaching alliance. The other two are to be taken a bit more seriously by the European Champions, with more first-teamers taking part. Indeed, these games could be played at Lansdowne Road and be a big windfall for the Real Reds.

8/8/99 - Shels beat Dutch team Leonidas Rotterdam 2-1 last night. Not bad eh? more about the game when I get it. Shels play Merchandise United tomorrow (its part of the sell your soul agreement). My own opinion on the Man U thing? Im for it actually.....would you rather it was Bohizz getting all that money? Mick Neville ect will get great experience from working with the Utd coaches, we get our new stand, and Ollie gets a holiday in Spain with Fergie? :-D Also, Man U loan out young players to get first team experience to 2nd/3rd Divishion English teams.....the likes of David 'hows my hair' Beckham and the Neville brothers have gone this way. A few Man U apprentices would be useful about the place....they could help build the new stand.....and I hear we need someone to do the Dulux Dog mascot thing. But seriously, "This represents a very exciting and innovative prospect for both Clubs" there will be a "free flow of personnel and of ideas". All we lose is the pick of our youth system. This is a nasty thing to lose, and if we were to sell out on our youth system, we would lose out badly. This does not seem to be what is happening though. This is a three year contract, and losing a few promising youngsters seems fair enough for a new stand, excellent training for our coaches and a few lucrative friendlies. Three years down the line, our coaching will be of the best standard in the League, and we can tell Man u to bog off. Youngsters will want to play with us, because they will see there is opportunity in our system. We will have our new stand, and hopefully a few bob.

16/7/99 - Friendly- Shels beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in a reasonably entertaining friendly in Tolka Park last night. Goals from Tony Sheridan in the first half and Gary Haylock in the second secured the win. Danny O'Leary was brought in to replace Steve Williams, and performed well. Neil Ogden, Tony Sheridan, Carl Vandervelden, Stephen Gifford and Tommy Byrne were also impressive.

15/7/99 - New Jerseys- The new Shels Umbro jerseys for the upcoming season have been decided on. They will be like those used in last seasons Super Cup, Red with umbro faded into the sleeves. Home will be red shirts and shorts, with white socks. Away will be blue shits and shorts, with white socks. Hopefully it's a nice deep blue not the sky blue we had a few years ago. At the bottom of the back of the shirts will be 'Real Reds' lettered, like Pat's lame Supersaints and that shitty logo they seem to think is so cute (it pisses me off). I think i'll get the home one with 'fintino' number 9 on the back, if they actually have them in different sizes this year ;-D

9/7/99 - Friendlies -

Shrewsbury Town Thursday the 15th of July Tolka Park 7.30
Castlebar Celtic Saturday the 17th of July Castlebar
Portadown Friday the 23rd of July Tolka Park
Rushden & Diamonds Saturday the 25th of July Tolka Park 3.00
Whitehall Rangers Wednesday the 28th of July Whitehall 7.30
Newbridge Town Saturday the 31st of July Newbridge 3.00

4/7/99 - Super Cup - Shels v Patricks....Shels lost on penalties to Pats in the Super Cup final....after a 0-0 draw.

1/7/99 - Super Cup - Shels went through to the Super Cup by beating Bray Wanderers 2-0 today.

27/6/99 - Intertoto Cup - Shels loose 0-2 to Xamax, it seems shels forwards Powell and Haylock were missing sitters all afternoon. Poor form really, Xamax looked a bad side at Tolka Park....In my match report of the first leg, I said that Keely should go for Powell and Haylock up front. He did. I didn't know Dermo took my advice, and maybe he shouldnt have because the pair missed loads of chances in the first half that would have killed the game off and we'd be in the next round. Shite.
