: Hi,

: I'm looking for any groups who fly German AC's and ideally meet at European times. Also what is a good German AC to start in.

: Thanks

So...you wanna fly for us Germans huh? Jg 51 is always looking for new recruits.

Well I'm with Jg51 and lead their bomber section along with my righthand man, and twin brother B-wing and a exelent wingman, Von KJK from Chicago, so I could give you some hints since all I fly is German stuff.

All Me109s climb like crazy and especially the 109F and 109K. The problem is the 109F is the lightest armed 109 and the K has a low velocity 30mm cannon and can't hit turning targets out at range 3 or more very well. The good news is the K model is fast, fast as a Fw190, has nearly the same firepower as a Fw190, but is not a durable and compresses a full 100mph sooner than the 190.

Fw190s are all fast, all well armed, all roll exeptionally well, and all turn horribly. If I see you trying to out-turn somebody with a fw190 and I'll shoot you myself. Go for headon shots (be sure to dodge them at range 3 to avoid netlag collisions because he is actually closer) and keep right on going in the same direction. Pull out to range 20 or more and gently turn back again to repeat the pass. You will loose speed in the turn so one pass or two is all you can manage before your too slow to escape. Also take 50% or more gas since the hit and run tactics burn time and gas.

Me 110s. Firepower and a tail gunner. They loose speed in turns badly and roll even worse.

Ju88. Technically can carry a heavier bombload than the B-25, but I'ld rather have six 500lb bombs than four 1000lb bombs. Its weak defensive guns aren't up to the task of keeping you safe from interceptors. But untill the HE111 comes along with its eight 500lb bombs and bigger defensive guns (I heard their is a latter war varient with a 20mm gun in the top rear gun position) We Jg's are stuck with them. Just take the time to get up to 15,000ft or more and you should make it to the target.

If you want the single best, and newbie friendly German fighter from the list I would suggest the 109g6. It doesn't do anything better than the other four 109s, but does all of them well enough since all the others have a quirk that makes them difficult (109E is slow, 109F is weakly armed, 109g6r6 is heavy and rolls poorer, 109K is over-armed for bomber interception and has to get close to hit small, manuvering fighters)

And of course the basics:

Never turn with turn fighters, always avoid headons with gunfighters, don't climb with Ki84s (they fly nearly the same as 109ks and have higher velocity 20mm cannons), run away from people who have more altitude, and control your dive down onto people with less altitude.

Oh yeah, chech your six constantly especially when chasing targets around.

A-wing, Jg 51
