The IITD exists

To ensure (guarantee) best practice in training development in Ireland by
- identifying, implementing and monitoring international standards
- researching and benchmarking on a continuous basis
- accrediting provision of professional education in training and development
- influencing key stakeholders
To support its members by
- providing a basis for member certification in a way that enhances continuting professional and thus employment opportunities.
- organising members into active networks, regionally, nationally in a way that achieves the goals of the institute.
