We got on the Coca Cola bus that was waiting for us at the school gates at 9.15 a.m. When we were all seated, the bus started moving. Everybody started talking to each other. The journey took around an hour. When we got inside we took seats in a room that was called the Coca- Cola classroom. It had pictures of Coca- Cola all over the walls, The man in charge was called Tom. He gave us a cup of Coke as soon as we got in. He introduced us to his collegue Marian. First he started to ask us some simple questions to start off with. Then he started telling us the history of Coca — Cola.
"A man called Dr. John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola. He was a chemist. One day he was trying to invent a cure for a cold that he kept getting every six months. His accountant Frank was over in the corner working when Dr.Pemberton called him over and asked him to taste the medicine. Frank said that it was very good. He got a piece of paper and wrote down the ingredients in case he forgot them. They took some down to Jacob's Pharmacy. Inside there was a Soda fountain which was where everybody got their drinks. The cold medicine was quite syrupy so Dr. Pemberton put some sugar in it and tasted it and said to Frank, "1 have just invented a new drink, but what shall I call it?” Frank thought for a minute and said, “Let's call it Coca- Cola.” He asked.”Why?” “Because it is a kind of sing-song name,” replied Frank. They started selling it. A few years later Dr. Pembeflon fell ill and went to hospital. Two years later he died. His widow sold the company to a man called Mr. Chandler. He then sold the company to a business man called Ernest Woodroff.
N ow Coca Cola is the richest company in the world and is sold n 200 countries.
Next we were asked some questions and then we went into the factory where we saw the bottles being capped. The Coca Cola company makes lots of drinks as well as coke. Some of the drinks are Fanta, PowerAde, Lemon and Lilt. We got a can of Coca Cola each and since we answered fifty-six questions correctly, we got four prizes each and posters for our classroom. We are also the Coca-Cola champions. On the way back we saw lots of interesting things so it didn't feel as long. This trip was really exciting and interesting.
We would also to say a big thank you to the teachers and the Coca-Cola company for making this trip possible.
