"Under Pressure" Experiments
 

Air Pressure 3

Experiment: To demonstrate the existence of air pressure in a soda bottle.

Materials:

You will need:

Clear 1 ¹/₂  - 2 litre bottle.
A small piece of paper
 

Method:

What you have to do: 

1) Scrunch up the piece of paper into a small ball.

2) Place the ball of paper into the neck of the bottle (don't let it fall into the bottle)

3) Now blow at the piece of paper and try to get the small ball of paper to roll into the bottle.

Result: The ball of paper should fly out of the bottle at you - instead of into it!

Conclusion: The bottle was already filled with air, so when you blow at the paper, the air tries to find a way out and pushes the paper out of the way!.
