The two bears met a few days before Cara's big trip to the States and had the chance to visit a castle in Trim, Co. Meath.

"We travelled just north of Dublin to what we believe to be the best and largest example of a Norman castle in Ireland. We were so excited to get the chance of seeing this castle together. Trim Castle was built in 1176 by Hugh de Lacy - encouraged by Henry II, who was afraid that Strongbow (a famous Norman leader) was becoming too strong in Ireland.

This is the Great Hall. Can't you just imagine the feasting and entertaining that went on? Can you spot us? We're sitting on what was the window sill and beside the central hearth that provided some heating for guests.

Windows sure were narrow - to make a more difficult target for archers to hit, we were told. We are sitting overlooking the River Boyne, scene of a very famous battle.

This was the only day we are ever likely to spend
together, so we made the most of it!
The photo on the right is us with our two friends
    Karen and Alyson."
