The parish boundaries of Lough Gur are easy to find. However, the social boundaries are not hard and fast. A newcomer would testify to the inclusive spirit of the area. What matters here is taking part. As a result, we are an active community which tries to draw people in and share all aspects of our lives.
This community, like so many rural Irish communities, works hard to keep its identity. The tradition and the history of the area is so important that we have a historical society which meets and travels and makes sure that history is seen as a living thing. Drama too is an integral part of our culture and the Honey-Fitz Theatre always is preparing for a new production.
Sport - and particularly GAA - is a passion shared by many. Soccer at Holycross and Rugby in nearby Bruff have a strong tradition.
