"The Enchanted Lake" hidden among its ring of limestone hills, lies 13 miles south-east of Limerick City. The Lake forms the shape of a C and covers 184 acres lying within a "bowl" of hills. In 1847 the water level was lowered by 5 feet and on the shore so many objects were discovered that have found their way into most museums in western Europe.
The wildlife too is legendary. Mute swans are to be found all year and Great Crested Grebe are amongst the attractions for bird watchers.
