Introduction

Limerick Tutorial Centre was founded in 1985. In the initial year tutoring for students having difficulties with their subjects in the leaving certificate classes was undertaken at the weekends, but gradually the demand came for other classes, and now as well as Leaving Certificate, 5th year, Junior Certificate, 2nd year, 1st year and even Primary school pupils are thaught every week at the Centre and classes in all subjects are now available every week.

1988 Repeat Leaving Certificate

Due to the great sucessof the students who have attended the centre, Limerick Tutorial Centre offered a specialised one Year full-time Leaving Certificate Course in September 1988 for the first time. This was designed primarily for students who wished to repeat the Leacing Certificate to obtain higher points. In 1988/89, we had 25 students taking the Leaving Certificate examination. Such was their sucess (one student got over 6 A's and over 20 students raised their results by over two grades per subject) and such was the sucess of students in the suceeding years that student numbers have grown substantially since. In fact over the years, the second and third family members have attended Limerick Tutorial Centre. This is a phenomenal achievement and we regard it as a great vote of confidence, by 1988 parents and the students in us.

1990- 6th Year for the First Time

Once we had commenced the Repeat Leaving Certificate class, the demand came immediately from parents for us to run a 6th Year course. This was undertaken for the first time in 1990 and has been extremly sucessful to date, as is evidenced by the increasing numbers taking it.
