The individual test results typically vary between 8 and 40. A result of N denotes a null result (which is an uncommon but recognised mutation that is also inherited).

Groups: The Groups (i.e., #1, #2, #3 and #4) are sets of results that have close matches. The Sub-Groups (i.e., #1A and #1B) are clusters of very closely matched results within the same group. The red MRCA results indicate the most likely Most Recent Common Ancestor results for each group (a minimum of three results are needed in a group to calculate the MRCA for the group). All main groups and sub-groups belong to Haplogroup R1b1; refined classification by subclade has been indicated and is typically Predicted (P) on the basis of the results; just a few have been confirmed by an additional test. Group #2 closely matches (12/12 and 24/25) the newly identified "Irish Modal Haplotype" associated with Uí Néill, as anticipated in the light of historical records.

Ungrouped: The Ungrouped results are for people who have received results that are not closely matched with any other results. All results started in the Ungrouped category. We will always have some Ungrouped results, but some of them will form new family groups over time. Ungrouped results that do not belong to Haplogroup R1b1 are denoted in red for additional clarity.

Colour Code: The coloured cells shows common markers between individual test participants within a family group to help you to identify close relatives. The white cells highlight markers that differ from the typical group result.
