THURLES OPEN SUNDAY 29th APRIL
Thurles CBS paid host to the first "B Grade" tournament. "The Stars Are Barred," event was run because of the increased interest in the sport around the province. Many of the season's events are targeted at the elite squad of players and due to the strength of these players many others are unable to compete. This event consisted of one group with mixed ages and gender after a provisional seeding the event was divided into three qualifying divisions that then led into a 5 division competition. A large number of U10 and U12 players made up the lower divisions with some very tough competition for the top places at all 5 levels. Seven clubs were represented with Togher, Ballydehob and Timahoe sending players for the first time. The thurles Open was one of the most relaxed and friendly tournaments of a busy season.

Tipp had two teams in Div IV on the Inter Counties last Sat. in Clontarf.  Our A team of Barry Condron, Cian Gleeson, and subs James Fanning and Shane Willoughby were beaten into second place by an Antrim team. They each got a nice Galway Crystal wine glass for their troubles. Our B team came last (Tomás Commins, Liam O'Brien, Conor Horan & Padraic Leahy.) Lots of Table Tennis. Very enjoyable. Very late!
