There are many legends surrounding
Loughcrew with its vast number of cairns spread around an area of three
hills.
The great Cairn at Loughcrew is an amazing
place with its wealth of ancient carvings inside. Outside to the north and
indeed facing the north is the huge stone seat. It was here that the Ollam Fodla
or wisest Druid of Eire would conduct ceremonies to acquire laws from the spirit
world, which would then be taken to Tara where the high king would distribute
these laws throughout the land.
On the morning of the 25th of august 1999
we climbed the hill to the great cairn surrounded in mist. Sensei conducted
another ceremony, different to the one at Tara. First sitting on the ancient
stone cutting the air with kuji kiri, then standing with cupped hands surrounded
in mist, facing East then North. Finally standing in quiet prayer.

The ceremonies conducted at Loughcrew and Tara can
only be described as powerful
There is a place in all our histories where
the Shaman conducts the rituals granted to us by God. To stand within the mist
is to stand within the mirror and hear the voice of wisdom. The mist is the veil
that stops the uninitiated from stealing the ceremony.
