( THE ENTRANCE TO NEW GRANGE )
Bru Na Boinne - Palace of the Boyne - The Shining
Palace.
Newgrange is perhaps the best known of the great megalithic
monuments in Eire. Bru Na Boinne is rich in ancient symbols the most significant
being the triple spiral. Some of our ancient texts refer to New grange as a
burial place for our kings and possibly high Druids as well as a place of
ceremony and worship.
( NEW GRANGE LIGHT BOX AND STONE CARVING )
The light box above the doorway to the tumulus allows the
winter sunrise on the morning of the winter solstice to shine a beautiful light
along the passageway and illuminate the chamber inside, this happens over a
period of three days. The only other light that enters the Brugh is the light of
Venus at specific intervals of time. The light of Venus shines a steel Blue kind
of colour while the sunlight illuminates the interior in a red colour. The Brugh
is also associated with the legend of Tea - (Ta) like the Japanese legend of
Heavens cave.
The Tuatha de danaan created the mound at New Grange as a gateway to the
other world where lived 3 times fifty sons of great kings / the lords of light.
They ate the fruit of 3 great trees and drank from the cauldron of eternal knowledge.
Within this mystical realm no one ever died. Elcmar and his wife Boannd lived in the Bru
Elcmar’s palace which was eventually taken by the dagda, the father of the
Gods also known as Ruad Rufhessa the God of wisdom.
Ruad Rufhessa sent Elcmar on a one day mission which he stretched to nine months
using his mastery over time. He then lay with Boannd and to them was born the god of
love Aongas the young because he was conceived and born in one mystical day.
The light that illuminates the inner chamber of the Bru marks the beginning of the lengthening
of days at the mid winter solstice making Aongas a personification of this
beautiful light. Ruad Rufhessa offered Aongas a gift that he can live in the Bru
for one day and one night but Aongas says that as Ruad Rufhessa is the master of
time itself then a day and a night encompass the whole world forever. Ruad
Rufhessa agrees and Aongas became a resident in the Bru Na Boinne palace of the
Boyne. The Bru is referred to in the ancient literature as Bru Mac ind Oc the
magical land of the youthful son
