The Royal Canal, Ireland

This site is for the people who don't like heights - Canals, by their nature are usually flat, so Canal walking is easier on the knees than the hills. This site has lots of pictures - it is surprising how many interesting pictures one can get of a canal!

Walks and Books

Some useful references for Hill Walking in Ireland. I have used some of David Hermans books and find them very informative, although it always takes me a lot longer than his best estimate to complete the walks - I reckon I'm just not a very fit walker. However, it in no way detracts from my enjoyment of the hills.
