This coin is a currency striking of a George II Irish halfpenny issued in 1736.

1736 is the first year of a sequence of halfpenny and farthing issues which runs up to the end of George's reign in 1760.

This coin exists in both copper proof strikings and silver proof strikings as well as the normal currrency striking - both other types are illustrated on these pages.

This coin is in About Uncirculated (AU) condition. There are some light contact marks on the high points of the design. The colour is an even chocolate brown with good surfaces and hints of original lustre (not visible on the scan) in the details. This date is the most common of the series in high grade - however pieces as nice as this are scarce but not rare.

The Copper Proof is illustrated : George II Halfpenny 1736 - Copper Proof

The Silver Proof is illustrated : George II - Halfpenny 1736 - Silver Proof
