The Village

The picture to the right is of the pub in the centre of the village, its a bit more modern now . This photo was taken in 1977 hence the poor quality. It's the only surviving business left in the village, there was at one time two pubs and three shops and a bustling economy in kelp sea-weed but there was also a fairly big population before WWI ,II and the great famine.
This photo was taken in 1989. If you were to see the village today you wouldn't recognize it, for example the old ruin in the picture has been renovated since the photo was taken .Actually that's what prompted me into making this site, to try and let people see the way the village was before all the recent buildings and developments, and because of the building boom that's after gripping most of East Cork..

This is a view of the beach taken from the mall (The mall is a narrow path that leads to another small beach called Sandies) If you were to follow the mall it would lead you to Finure eventually! and of course to sandies, off to the right of the picture is inch bay, Lahard and powerhouse, which has since been done away with all that's head which is a small peninsula which used to be home to the power-head light there is the ruins and 2/3 houses that are use all year round
Any hint's or suggestion's you might have would be much appreciated or any queries about the place that you might have i.e. maps, accommodation anything don't hesitate to drop me an E-mail
