HISTROY OF THE GUILEEN PUB

1885 to 1893
Grandparents David and Anastatia Dunne (nee Condon) married on 29 January 1885 and purchased the Guileen Pub. Anastatia's parents owned a Pub at Cotter's Point.
Pub was a single story thatched stone building with a ditch (grassed mound of stone and earth approximately four feet high) around the front covered in wild flowers and red fuschia which are still common in Guileen today. Access to the Pub porch was via an opening in the ditch. The bar was about twelve feet square. Outhouses were on the right hand side of the Pub. Private sleeping accommodation was either in the puck (loft) or settee (upholstered seat by day — top folded up and front down to form a double bed at night).
The field at the rear of the Pub and down to Kenneficks was owned by the Dunne family and was probably sold during Mary Ellen's time. Tenants on the Pub side of Guileen paid ground rent to the owners of the Pub — approximately two shillings per annum. Payments were abolished around 1950. David and Anastatia had four children — William (1886) Still being researched / Mary Ellen (1888) Inherited Pub and married Michael Ryan on 27 December 1917 — no issue / Anastatia (1889) Spinster. Had positions as Housekeeper in Chelsea and Battersea London / Patrick (1890), my father joined the Royal Navy at 18 and served with distinction in WWI. Re retired as a Chief Petty Officer and migrated to Australia , married and had three sons — Self/ Robert Gordon (1927) / Patrick David (1928) / Arthur William (1930)

1893 to 1895
Grandfather David passed away on 2 April 1893 (46) and his widow Anastatia operated the Pub.

1895 to 19??
Mary ( Anastatia ) married Michael Wafer (Jerry Wafer's uncle) on 8 January 1895 and they then operated the Pub.
They had two girls — Margaret (Maggie Duhig) and Katherine (Kate White)
