The Greenore Railway Line.

In the summer of the early forties people could get the train from the Quay out to Greenore. The station was where the Tilestation is now. That is where they got their name from.

The children came by train from Cooley, Newry and Carlingford to school in Dundalk. Some children went to the Grammar school. People went to Greenore on the train. The tracks crossed the bay on a bridge which is now gone. The Greenore Station closed in 1951. My great grandfather was a guardsman on it.

Here is a photo of Amy and I with the new Táin bridge in the background. This bridge was built where the old railway line was.
