Seatown Castle.

The castle as it known today is on the corner of my street, Mill St. and Castle Rd. The castle is in fact the bell tower and the only remaining feature of a Franciscan friary built in 1240.It was attacked and destroyed by the Lord Deputy Gray in 1538. Edward Bruce also attacked in 1315,and the friary was burned down and the entire community killed . The castle has been recentlyrenovated and will remain for a long time as a reminder of the history of Dundalk. By
