Course Papers
I was in the University of Limerick
in 1998/1999 doing a Graduate Diploma in Computer Engineering. The
course was excellent and I really enjoyed myself. During
the year I completed a few papers for course work and I have
stuck them up as the content might be of interest to some people.
I take no resonsibility for how accurate they are!
Enjoy.
A quick introduction to bus systems from the first Micros to PCI.
This paper was done for the Microprocessor course.
One of the first "chips" used in PCs. A counterpart of Intel's
8088 series processors. Again a Microprocessor paper.
A run through on the operation of 1000BaseT LANs. Has background
info on the operation of Ethernet. From the Networks course.
A "lite" introduction to the ins and outs of WinNT. Written for NT 4.0 but most
of it should apply to NT 5.0 /2000. From the Operating Systems course.

SKIING

Mostly The Truth
Every year for the last three years I have gone skiing
with a group of friends. And each year I have taken it
upon myself to write a mostly true account of what
happened. These are those stories....
I must get pictures to go with these
Our first trip out. Everyone learning to ski, and the
night life was rarely as good.
My favourite trip. The one where I really learned to ski.
Also with good night life, and a huge amount of skiing.
This year's trip. A bigger group, quieter at night
but loads and loads of snow. This account is in need of
polishing.

NONSENSE
|
Procter & Gamble
I worked for P&G for three years after I left College.
This taught me I was never going to be suited to working
in a factory! But there was some fun to be had there.
Nonsense e-mails were one way of letting off steam and
here are two of the best ones I sent in my time.
In my last year one of the new bright young Engineers
did something completely clueless that resulted in him
getting covered in a fair proportion of 2 tonnes of
a new Oil of Olay skin cream. This celebrates that event.
When the time came for me to quit, there was no
way I was going quietly. This is the resignation letter
read out at my leaving dinner.
