~ August 8th 2002 ~

The sponsored walk of 18 miles of the Wicklow Way from Marley Park, Rathfarnam, Co. Dublin to Lough Tay, County Wicklow in support of the fundraising campaign on behalf of Ronan O'Keeffe, who sustained serious injuries in a car accident last year, was undertaken by two very courageous members of The Boathouse on August 6th last. This very long treck accross the scenic terrain of the Wicklow Mountains took 9 hours to complete! - but all the pain was worth it!
Thanks to everyone who sponsored this very worthy appeal!

Annual summer music session in Glendalough:       Sunday, July 21st, 2002
After the success of our open-air seisiún cheoil in Glendalough, County Wicklow last summer as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations of Comhaltas it was decided to make this an annual event. This session will be open-air, (hopefully the weather will be in our favour!) and will take place beside the Upper Lake (near the second car-park in Glendalough). If the weather is not suitable, the session will be in the Glendalough Hotel.
All are welcome! And bring a picnic!!!

~ May 1st 2002 ~

On Sunday 28th April the County Wicklow Fleadh was held in the Abbey Community College in Wicklow Town. It was one of the most successful County Fleadhs to date with over 250 competitors competing in 26 different competitions.

Many of our entrants from The Boathouse CCE had never competed before, but the regular practice sessions paid off handsomely, with several county champions and numerous medal winners. The under-10 céilí band achieved second place, while the under-12 grúpa cheoil won a well-deserved first place in their competition. The under-12 band and grúpa cheoil, as well as many of the solo musicians, are now going forward to represent Wicklow in the Leinster Fleadh, which will be held in Kilcormac, County Offaly on July 13th and 14th.

Best of luck!!!!
