 Ongoing Projects

1. Town server : Its planned to have our own town server by the year 2000, this will mean we have unlimited resources, to plan our website develop our town and enhane Castlebar's reputation as a serious contender for a center of E-Commerce for the future, We will also be able to give more space to each of the useers of of website.
2. I.S.D.N. Intergrtaed Services Digital Network , this is a scheme which will shortly rolled out for business’s in the town who wish to use ISDN. ISDN allows very high quality of connection for large data transfer, much better than a plain old telephone line.
3. Digital Park : We have been working hard for some time now on the concept of a digital park for Castlebar. This will be an area into which we hope to attract indusrties that are involved in the information reveloution, e.g. call centers software developers hardware manufacuters etc... This is now well advance and because of the interest that Castlebar has gained from the Information Age Project we now have a situation wherby companies have been talking directly to us with a veiw to setting up in Castlebar. This will mean more jobs for our town and the resulting spin off will affect the entire town. We are hopful of a very important jobs announcement in the very near future. Watch this space.
4. Schools Projects : the second part of our schools projects was started a short while ago and is ongoing, each school was contacted and informed that each will be supported, with finacing for a project of their own choice and design. This is looking like being a very exciting prospect judgimg by some of the ideas we have received so far.
5. G.M.I.T: we have started a dialog with the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology to investigate a joint project on some cutting edge technology. This will hopefully come to fruition shortly.
6. We have now extended this project to include all schools in the Castlebar area, our transition year students have now got the opportunity to study the ECDL course.
