The Eda, with assistance from representatives of some other clubs/organisations and individuals, and with the guidance of Facilitator, Colette Nulty, and with funding support from the Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, conducted a Household Survey during 2000. 339 houses were invited to fill in a Questionnaire and there was a 73% return. The main recommendations from the survey were:
The setting up of an 'Umbrella Group' to broaden participation in community development and to encourage communication in the area. A plan for the development of the Tourism Potential should be drawn up jointly by all organisations involved in tourist-type projects. The EDA should continue to lobby for improvements and should get the support of other organisations in the community. The Leisure Centre Committee needs to draw up an Operational Plan for the next 5 years. Childcare Facilities and Womens' Groups are needed. The EDA should continue to work with Monaghan Enterprise Board for the development of an Enterprise Centre. More needs to be done to support the elderly.
Top priority should be given to setting up the Umbrella Group.
