Experiment No. 5 Chromatography Experiment: To show the mix of colours within a colour. Materials: Method: What you have to do: 1) Pour a little bit of water into a jam jar. 2) Get the blotting paper and a dark marker. 3) Put a dot with marker about 25 mls from the end of the blotting paper. 4) Put the very end of the blotting paper inti the jar of water. 5) Observe the result.
Result: As the water rose up the blotting paper, it acted as a solvent, causing the dark green dot from the marker to spread out and divide into lots of colours such as yellow, blue and turquoise. Conclusion: Colours are made up of a mix of colours.
