2005/2006 - A Year in Pictures

Meet Flat Stanley! Flat Stanley began life as an ordinary American boy. One night while sleeping, a notice board fell from the wall and squashed him flat. Whereas this might pose a problem for the rest of us, Stanley uses it to his advantage. He can now, for example, travel the world in nothing larger than an envelope and learn about other countries and cultures. Our special little visitor came from Nebraska, has been to the Phillipine Islands, has now arrived in Ireland and is being hosted by a member of Fourth Class. We wish him well - may he have a wonderful, educational experience here in Ireland! |
Fourth
Class are doing a project on pets - focusing particularly on petcare. |
On
Friday, 24th February, they had a petday. The class became a little
zoo-like and I believe, all inmates behaved impeccably. Their project
is near completion - last year 4th were lucky enough to win a widescreen
TV and DVD player for their project on rainforests. |
Fifth Class tried their hand at some engineering, with the annual STEPS K'NEX Challenge. The class were set the challenge of buildiing a truck that was capable of holding different types of recyclable materials - in other words, it had to have compartments. This is the third year we have been involved in this competition and as always we are grateful to STEPS (The Science, Technology and Engineering Programme for Schools) for giving us the opportunity. |
Saturday, 25th February and the Girls' Brigade competition. What a terrific team! Unfortunately they didn't win, but they looked great and performed really well with their pom-poms. Most
of the girls are members of |
