Portlaw
N.S. played against Kilmacthomas N.S. in the group B u-13 hurling final on May
11 th, 04. The match was on in Welsh Park in Waterford. The first score of the
game was by Richard Fitzpatrick. He drove the ball at the goal and scored it. It
was a good goal. Kilmac’s goalie pucked out the ball and Niall Fitzgerald
caught it and lobbed the ball over the goalie head and scored. Thomas Murphy got
a brilliant point and scored another good point soon after. Anthony Fitzpatrick
got another point by kicking the ball over the bar. A few minutes before half
time John Dee tried to score a point but Craig O’ Neill got on the end of it
and scored a goal. John Dee a point and Kilmac got three back, two from frees.
Richard and John put over a point each. The final score was Portlaw N.S. 3-6 to
Kilmac’s 3 points. We feel excited to be in the county final on June 4 th,”
says Captain John Dee.
