RADIX Body-Centered Therapy

RADIX is a third-generation Reichian therapy practice derived from the work of Wilhelm Reich and Charles R. Kelley. Like other somatic or "body-centered" psychotherapy practices such as bioenergetics, hakomi, and core energetics, RADIX practically applies the principle of mind-body unity using an integrated approach that includes working with the body (somatic), feelings (affective), and thought (cognitive) to effect psychological change and profound personal growth.

The goal of RADIX work is to experience and integrate feelings, leading to a greater sense of aliveness and connection to oneself and the world. Practitioners use a non-invasive approach, and through a number of both verbal and non-verbal techniques, such as breathing and body awareness and movement, help clients take healthy control over their lives. Clients are gently guided through an emotional release process, during which they learn how to construct and maintain boundaries and sustain a higher level of energy.

Radix work is done through group and individual sessions with certified practitioners who undergo lengthy and rigorous training.

Rebalancing Integrative Bodywork
and Osho Rebalancing

Rebalancing was developed in the 1970's by a group of long-time bodywork practitioners working under the guidance of a spiritual teacher named Osho. The idea was essentially to create a new form of bodywork that would take the best of the presently existing modalities and imbue them with a deeper perspective than was presently existing. One of those people was Yeshe Menhla, who opened the Kootenay School of Rebalancing in Nelson, BC in 1983. The school has operated since that time with increasing popularity and distinction.

Rebalancing utilizes a combination of deep tissue massage, joint tension release and energy balancing to counteract chronic holding patterns that contribute to pain and illness. Rebalancing views the human body as much more than it's physical component, recognizing that the emotional, energetic and spiritual aspects are of as much importance to our totality.

Rebirthing

Rebirthing, developed in the 70s by Leonard Orr, is a technique that involves deep breathing your way back to your physical birth in this lifetime and, in many cases, involves returning to past life memories. These memories are often the source of problems in this lifetime and their release can transform the patient.

Reflexology

Reflexology also known as Zone Therapy is a traditional form of foot massage used to activate specific energy channels in the body to promote self-healing. Foot massage, already used 5000 years ago by Chinese and Egyptians, was rediscovered by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald (1872-1942) in 1915 and further developed by physiotherapist Eunice Ingham in the 1930s.

For Reflexology the body is divided into 10 vertical energy zones that run from the feet to the head and from the hands to the head. A dysfunction within one of this area is reflected in the corresponding zone of the feet as crystalline deposits and/or tenderness. A dysfunction in the feet may also affect the energy flow in related organs. Practitioners apply pressure and friction to the reflex points of the feet to asses and treat the whole body.

Reiki

Reiki is a "Hands-on" healing technique wich is sometimes called energy work. It means that the therapist works like a transmitter for the natural life energy wich is drawn through the hands of the therapist to wherever is needed in the body of the client.

Stress is released and relaxation take place and vital energy lost in daily life is restored. A subtle shift in awareness is enhanced by each treatment.

Reiki opens the mind to the causes of disease and pain, thus reinforcing the body's ability to heal itself.
