Biodanza™

Biodanza, the dance of life - 'bios' means 'life' and 'danza' means 'dance', is a unique system of Human integration and growth stimulated by music, rhythm and emotions. The Biodanza system was created in the 1960's by Rolando Toro Araneda, a lecturer in Psychology and Medical Anthropology at the University of Santiago, Chile.

The Biodanza workshop is directed by a teacher/facilitator and is practiced in mixed groups. The participant is guided through five lines of 'Vivencia' - the passionate experience of being alive here and now in the intensity of each moment. The five lines of 'Vivencia' are:
Vitality: to feel our energy, our impulse to face the world
Sexuality: to feel desire and pleasure from our sensuality
Creativity: to be creative in every day of our lives
Affectivity: to feel tenderness and respect for Universal Life
Transcendence: to go beyond our own ego to reach higher levels of integration within Humanity, Nature and Universe.

Each participant works on three levels of communication in the dance: with oneself, with another person and with the group.

Biodanza is designed for use in a wide variety of settings and is effective with adults, seniors, children, people with affective disorders and special needs.

Biodynamic Massage and Psychotherapy

Biodynamic Massage encourages the free and harmonious flow of Bio-Energy (life force ) throughout the body restoring a balanced and unblock energy charge.
By stimulating muscles, joint and the energy field the cellular memory of post traumatic stress is released into the system to be "digested", encouraging the restoration of the mind/body's natural capacity for self-regulated healing.

Biodynamic Psychology, developed by the Norwegian psychologist Gerda Boyesen, is a biological theory of psychology wich is concerned with the organic link between the body and the psyche. It postulates that psychological principles are not only theories and concepts but can be an actual energetic force and organic or neurological reality.

Professional psychotherapy along with massage therapy training is given to equip the therapist with the skills necessary to assist the client in their growth and development.

Bioenergetics and Bioenergetic Analysis

Bioenergetics is a way of understanding personality in terms of the body and its energetic processes. It links physical pain, muscle tension, and postural disorders with state of mind, demonstrating that suppressed emotions, unhappiness, and anger can block energy-flow and cause physical distress.

Bioenergetic Analysis is a form of therapy that combines work with the body and the mind to help people resolve their emotional problems and realize more of their potential for pleasure and joy in living.

Bioenergetics, developed by Alexander Lowen, is based on the teachings of Wilhelm Reich, the father of modern Body Psychotherapies. It includes both manipulative procedures, counseling and special exercises, and is designed to help "normal" individuals and people with affective/psychological problems as well.

Biomechanical Therapy

Biomechanical therapy is a very gentle and relaxing type of bodywork used to integrate and realign the body's structural framework. This system of bodywork relies on the use of light finger pressure on specific areas of the back. It relieves strain in the muscles and ligaments and reduces inflammation in affected tissues. Biomechanical Therapy is used to treat both acute and chronic conditions. As well, because of its unique approach and effects on the body, it is a means of disease prevention. Biomechanical therapy was created in the late 1920s by Dr. John Hurley.

Bowen Technique

Bowen Therapy is a subtle muscle/nerve/connective tissue technique developed in Australia by Tom Bowen . The work is gentle, non-invasive and performed through the clothing. It consists of a specific sequence of gentle, rolling "moves" done across superficial muscles, tendons and nerves.. The results are profound and lasting, and usually apparent within two or three sessions.

Bowen Therapy is a completely new concept in bodywork. It is neither derived from nor similar to any other physical modality. Unlike massage or other manipulations that try to force a change, Bowen simply resets your body to heal itself.

Although extremely gentle, these stimulations are so powerful that it's necessary to let the patient rest and "cook" a few minutes between segments in order that they completely integrate the neurological changes. The entire process is so soothing that most patients will fall asleep at least once during the session.

Breema Bodywork™ and Self-Breema™

Breema is an ancient system which reached the Western world two decades ago. Its discovery has profoundly transformed the lives and health of the rapidly widening circle of people who have studied and received it. Breema is based on a revolutionary understanding of the Universal principles which govern life and health, and is the simplest, most natural form of touch and body movement.

There are two branches of Breema. One is the bodywork the other is the Self-Breema exercises. The aim of both is to enhance the flow of life energy and bring one to the present. Breema treatments are practiced on a padded floor, with the recipient comfortably dressed. The method uses comfortably supported movements including firm yet gentle stretches, precise and gradual leans into the muscles, nurturing brushes and holding postures and a wide variety of playfully rhythmic movements.

The Buteyko Method

The Buteyko Method (The Breath Connection Method) is a system of breathing analysis and correction that helps you achieve good health through optimum breathing as discovered, researched and taught by Professor Buteyko.

It is a safe and effective way to relieve and prevent asthma as evidenced by the Australian clinical trial at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane in 1994 and the Victoria University trail in 1999. It corrects the common condition of hyperventilation or over-breathing, obvious (acute) or hidden (chronic) by using breath control, breathing exercises and education to help sufferers understand their condition, control symptoms and prevent illness.

The method is learnt through individual consultations and group sessions with a trained practitioner. Buteyko clients are instructed to recognise their overbreathing pattern and to retrain and recondition their breathing to normal levels.

The Buteyko Method is especially designed to help sufferers of asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and other chronic respiratory ailments. It also helps people suffering of insomnia, allergies, psychosomatic and stress related disorders or seeking to improve performance in singing, dance or sport.
