CSPCA In 2007

The CSPCA is meeting the many challenges the new millennium brings us. We are investing in the future of our society in new and different ways. Our website is one of them, our spay and neuter awareness campaign is another. We have installed a new telephone system to better meet the increased number of calls.

Our education program takes a PowerPoint slide-show out into the schools and is designed to encourage children and young adults to think for themselves and form their own ideas on Animal Welfare and Animal Rights. We are also proud of our involvement in RTE's educational programme "Animal Rescue".

Many things we have done over the years we are planning to do even better. Packs of marauding dogs roaming the countryside and killing many farm animals are greatly reduced thanks to our work. Our efforts in reducing the stray dog population have resulted in less suffering for these animals. We hope that the time will come that we will be able to re-home each and every healthy animal which comes to us.

We have strengthened our links with the ISPCA and other animal welfare societies and campaign with them to get improved legislation created by the government to better protect and benefit all animals.

The society strongly believes that it should encourage people to spay or neuter their cat or dog. This is the only way in which the endless cycle of stray and unwanted animals can be broken. We know that many elderly people only have their pets as company, and to many of them the cost of spaying or neutering their pets can be prohibitively expensive. With financial support from caring people we can make our dream of this low cost scheme a reality. In the long run the greatly reduced number of strays will allow us to use our limited financial resources on other projects.

Our future depends heavily on receiving financial help from either central or local government. We know that other Societies in the country are much worse of than we are and some are threatened with closure. If we were to close down, who would pick up the pieces? Our city and country side depends on societies like us to provide.a service to all with very little finance. You have read about our goals and our hopes for the future. If you would like to help us realise these goals and hopes, please go to the How To Help page. Even the smallest gift is very welcome and your contribution helps to create a brighter future for the animals who depend so heavily on all of us.
