Aims Of the Society:

  • To promote animal welfare at Marts, Fairs, Sale yards, Etc. , on the Public Highway, and elsewhere throughout the country.

  • To provide shelter for lost, stray and unwanted animals.

  • To advise owners of animals on all aspects of Animal Welfare.

  • To advise and assist owners of sick and injured animals and where necessary to procure veterinary advice and treatment.

  • To cooperate with all organisations concerned with animal welfare and particularly with the Garda Siochana.

  • To support the introduction of Humane Legislation.

Operation Of the Society

The main function of the Society is as the name suggests to prevent cruelty throughout the County of Cork. An inspector is employed by the Society to investigate all complaints of cruelty however small. As our powers are limited we can contact the Gardai whenever we think a case warrants a prosecution. The Gardai can then decide to prosecute and we depend on the Judge to deliver a stiff sentence.

Another important aspect of the Societies work is Educating People about Animal Welfare.
Our plan for the new millenium.

Quite a large amount of the Societies work is dealing with the Stray Dogs and Stray Cats situation.
