Day 5 ~ Dear Diary --: Well it was Monday May 5th and I survived the first real night in Tramore. I must say it is a beautiful place. We can see the beach and the sand hills from the schoolyard. We all play football at little lunch and we go up the big yard at big lunch. Each class has its own part of the yard to play in. They wouldn’t let me play because they said I was too small and I might get hurt so I stayed in Shane’s pocket and ran around with him. To day I went home with Gerard Stubbs and when we got in the door his Mam thought I was a puppy. Gerard told her that I was Tuckamore the Topsail mouse and that I was in Tramore on a         I went bunjee  jumping
short holiday visiting different boys houses. She said I was cute and she hoped I had a nice stay in Tramore.

Gerard did his homework and got changed and then we went out rollerblading. I was sticking out of his pocket. We went flying down the path. We nearly knocked this old woman over, as she was coming out her gate. She was not pleased and she gave out to both of us for rollerblading on the footpath. She said she could have died from fright. We promised we would go somewhere else to roller blade in future. Gerard said all old women give out. I told him that my Mum does the same back home in Newfoundland but as I was away from home I have no Mum to give out to me. Gerard said that the mothers of the other boys would give out if I acted the eejit here I Tramore, especially his mother. After about half an hour, we went in and I asked Gerard could I go bungee jumping? He asked me was I sure about this?  I said “No problem, Gerard, chill out, it’s cool, man” He told me that he did not want to end up spending the night with me in Ardkeen hospital with a broken neck. He asked me had I ever gone bungee jumping before and I said that I often went bungee jumping back home in Canada. I told a little white lie, but Gerard would never find out. We first needed some strong elastic sting, and I also needed a ape and harness and we needed to find some place high up but safe. In two minutes we had everything ready. Gerard strapped me up , we checked the length of the elastic rope, but it was too long in the beginning as , the money which I had in my pouch made me too heavy and I would have ended up in a heap on the ground. I asked Gerard to mind my holiday money and to check the elastic again. He did that and all was set for the big moment. He put me up on top of a bunk bed. He strapped me up. I asked him again to check the rope “Yes, Tuck, I told you I checked it about four or five times and it is perfectly safe. Would I let anything happed to you, now would I” he kept asking. Anyway, I rechecked everything, said a little prayer, and looked over the side. It was a l-l-o-ong way down. I said I wanted to do it tomorrow. Gerard said I was a chicken and that I never jumped ever before. I stood there, counted one to three, closed my eyes and just jumped. Down, down, down I went. I opened my eyes a small bit  and could see the floor getting nearer and nearer. Was this the end I thought?  Just at the last minute I felt myself swinging, first left , then right and back again, It worked, it worked. I was swinging through the air. I felt great. I had just completed my first bungee jump, but Gerard was not to know that. After a few minutes I asked Gerard to let me down, as I was feeling a bit dizzy. It was fun. I jumped off his bunk bed. After  recovering  from this adventure we went and  had our dinner. We had chicken nuggets and chips. They were nice. I was hungry after all that excitement. Gerard was telling his Mum all about our adventures upstairs. She said I was glad I was safe.

Then we played play station. We played Tomboy. It was cool. At 9:45pm we went for a walk down the beach.  We collected  some shells. When we got back we went to bed. I was tired after all our days activities. At 2:00am  woke up and I wanted to play station  again ,but Gerard said “go back asleep, as we have school in the morning. I was a bit disappointed but I guess you can’t always get what you want in this life. At 8:00am we got up and had weetabix and tea and toast for breakfast. We got dressed and washed and went to catch the bus for school. On the bus we meet all of Gerards friends. Their names are Ian, Chris, Brian, Shannon and Samantha. We had great fun on the bus talking and laughing about what we did last night. We got to school and played in the playground for a while. Then when the bell rang  and we all went into class. When we got in to class we had a raffle to see who got me next. Adam won the raffle the lucky number was 16. Then I went into my box and went to sleep. I had fun in Gerards house and it was a great adventure. Wait until I tell my friends back home.
