Chamonix Alps Trip
These are a selection of photos from my mountaineering trip to the Alps in July
2002. I was in France for the Mountaineering Council of Ireland (MCI) Alpine Meet. There were
between 100 and 150 people over for climbing, walking and general
mountaineering in Chamonix, the mecca of European climbing. Having loads of
craic at the same time goes without saying!

The meet was based in a campsite on the edge of Chamonix town. I had travelled
to France with Declan O'Keeffe and we started our trip with a hike up the
Plan d l'Aiguille.
|
You get great views of the Chamonix valley from the Plan. This shot is looking
over the town towards the North West side of the Chamonix valley. The
peak rising above the clouds is the Brevant [2525m].

You also get great views of the Chamonix Aiguilles that overlook the town on the
other side of the valley. |
But the mountains that dominate the valley are those of the Mt Blanc Massif.
Looking from left to right the
peaks are, Aiguille du Midi [3842m], Mont Blanc du Tacul [4248m], Mont Maudit
[4465m], Mont Blanc [4808m], Dome du Gouter [4304m] and the Aiguille de Gouter
[3786m] Remember them, as you will see them again here!
