Our County |

County Wicklow is a
small maritime county on the east coast of Ireland and is known as
'The Garden of Ireland.' A raised granite ridge runs through it,
containing two of the highest passes in the country - the Sally Gap and
the Wicklow Gap - which are major routes to the east and west of the
county. To the north of this ridge
is Dublin city, to the west lie the Blessington lakes and to the east is
the tranquil valley of Glendalough, which was a centre of early
Christianity in Ireland. In addition to lakes at Blessington and
Roundwood, the county is criss-crossed by rivers. |
