School History

On January 24th 1897 the Sisters of the Holy Faith came to Kilcoole.  They immediately made plans to build a primary school, which was completed in 1900.   The people here and throughout Ireland were still suffering severely in the aftermath of the great famine, but the torch of learning caught fire and is still burning brightly.   As the area grew in population extra classrooms were needed to meet the demands of increasing numbers.  So, the first wing of our present building was opened and blessed in 1973.  The following year one extra room was added and in the late 1970's the remaining four 'new' classrooms were added.

This is a view of our school today.
