To the question "Is it a folk song?" Woody Gutherie's famous answer was "I ain't never heard no horse sing!" Their album reflects that view!
Jim is from Tyneside, still a hotbed of Irish music. He prefers the informality of the pub to the sterility of a concert platform and he has absorbed very early (from such as Bob Davenport and Reggie Hall) that this is a social music, gaining little from over-elaboration and virtuosity. Hence his preference, for 34 years now, for the "limited D/G melodeon, with its rhythmic, built in bass. his songs are mainly older Irish material, but nothing is excluded. Originally from Hampshire, Patrick has lived in the U.S.A for some years and has similarly broad interpretation of the tradition. His sensitive Gibson guitar "follows" the music rather than competes, although he is well able to play melody or rhythm with equal skill. He writes his own tunes, one being the title track and has been known to burst into song. I have enjoyed many a night`s session at "The courtyard" or "Arundels" in Schull since I moved here. Patrick also guested on one of "Big John Willie's" hit records "Dogshit" as well as playing lead guitar for the legendary "Hen House." Jim & Patrick will be playing again this Summer and the craic will be mighty. See you there! Track Listing
