The charter of the Irish Centre for Distance Education Research and Applications is to contribute to the development of international distance education research and to highlight Irish contributions to the field of distance education.

The Irish Centre for Distance Education Research and Applications was founded on 22 April 1992. It was registered with the Irish Government in 1992 with registration no 121015.
