Glinsk Song Contest '98 CP Audio provided the Computerised Scoreboard software for the contest again in 1998. The event took place on Sunday, July 5th. The winning entry, "The Corner", was composed and sung by Tim Ambler from Dublin. Tim's song, with consistently high scoring, led from the start, although his early lead seemed threatened when the second placed song drew to within a single point, with only two adjudicators' scores to go. Tim's song finished with a total score of 84 points. Second place went to Michael Heffernan's composition "Your Hands on me" on 77 points, and sung by Janice Benson, while John Grant's "Lucky Man", sung by Tommy Reilly finished third with 76 points. Denis Allen, of 'Limerick Your A Lady' fame, who has won the contest twice, returned to entertain the audience while the ten adjudicators came to their decision on the thirteen finalists. The 1998 contest attracted more than 150 entries, from all over Ireland. ·2006 results |
