Stranmillis Primary School Scoil Ide Primary School
Knightsbridge , Belfast. Corbally , Limerick.
We are delighted to be partaking in the" Dissolving Boundaries through
technology" project .We hope the children will identify areas of common
interest and at the same time recognise cultural differences.
Stranmillis P.S. opened in 1921 before moving to its
current location in Knightsbridge Park in 1966.The school
buildings consist of 13 classrooms, an assembly /dining hall,
a tutorial room, a library, a music room, Principal's and Secretary's
offices and a Staffroom.There is also a purpose built Nursery unit
and a school meals kitchen.Stranmillis is a controlled co-educational
primary school with an enrolment of 373 children in the Primary 1-7 age range.
Scoil Ide N.S. opened in 1964 with just three classrooms and was run by
the Sisters of Mercy. A new extension, housing nine classrooms,
Learning Support Room, Resource Room and ancillary space,
covering over 1,000 square metres and built at a cost of
over £1 million was occupied in September of 1999.
The School Library was extended and refurbished last summer
and is staffed by parent volunteers. The original three classrooms
have also just been refurbished.Scoil Ide is also a co-educational school
with an enrolment of 821 pupils and a full time Teaching Staff of 31.
