Third Class Third classes have been hard at work on their Egyptian projects. Here is an account of some of the work that has been done and some pictures from our budding architects and designers. We really had a great time learning about how the Ancient Egyptians lived. Their leader was called Pharaoh and the people believed he was a God. He was the most powerful man in all Egypt. The Egyptians were great farmers, artists, builders and architects. Great tombs and pyramids were built and the insides were painted with Hieroglyphs [ a type of Egyptian writing ] and beautiful paintings. Our teacher divided us into teams of Architects and builders and asked each group to design and construct an Egyptian tomb or home or any other item of our choice. The only rule that he gave each group was that whatever we decided to do had to be different than anything we had seen or learnt in class. Each group came together and talked about their ideas. When our group were finished, one of our team made a drawing of our plan. Then with the help of the teacher we collected all the items that we needed. Bit by bit our construction took shape. We made many changes along the way. When we were finished we were really delighted and our teacher told us that we were really fantastic. He said that some day some of us would become great Architects, Artists or Builders. We were all so very proud of ourselves. Third class is a year for hard work in tables and spellings !
