Sixth class6th classes 2000Click on the picture to see the full image.Money Raised For Bóthar. Sixth classes attended the presentation of a cheque for £600 to Bóthar. The money had been raised throughout the school just prior to Christmas and will facilitate the purchase of one pig and one dairy goat for needy families in the Third World. The families are given instruction on looking after the animals and promise to pass on the first female offspring to another family.The cheque was presented by the Student Council to Ms. Niamh Lillis who received it on behalf of Bothar. SIXTH CLASS COLOUR DAYThis year's colour day was an outstanding success with our speakers performing to an exceptionally high standard . Posters, t-shirts and wigs added plenty of colour to a great day as the children spoke on behalf of various worthy causes. Classes then voted on what they considered to be the most deserving cause and after a very close contest it was decided to donate the school collection to " Sight Savers ". It was a wonderful opportunity for these children to experience speaking in front of what was for them a large audience of their peers. The sixth classes are delighted this year to be availing of the expertise of Liz Griffin who has been taking the classes in rotation for 8 week periods . She has been instructing them in basic computing and word processing skills, dealing with files and the use of clipart. It is a part of the week the children eagerly look forward to and should greatly benefit them as I.C.T. continues to make more and more of an impact in the modern technological world we live in.Sixth class will also shortly be continuing their involvement in the North / South school dissolving boundaries project involving up to thirty or more schools. It has the backing of Eircom and Dell computers who will be providing the technology to link schools via the Internet and video - conferencing.
