Finishing touches are being put to the prefab in preparation for the big move - still on for tomorrow, Wednesday! The classroom in the photo on the right will be Fifth Class. There will be little bits and pieces done while we are on holiday - however, the rooms are fresher and cleaner than we have at present. Fourth Class and Mrs. Hay will move into their room later in the week. In the midst of all this, 5th and 6th Classes are preparing for Young Scientist in the RDS in early January - it just adds to the madness!
Fourth Class and Mrs Hay moved room on the last day of term and Collens builders went on holiday! They are due back on site on 2nd January - but the date to note is January 6th when demolision of the old school begins. Remember that children will not be returning until the following day - 7th January.
As I write this, Christmas is just over and we await 2003 with excitement at the prospect of seeing a new school rise. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Have a very Happy New Year - and we'll see you all back here early next month as further developments take place.
Monday of the fourth week dawned and it was raining again! Undeterred, our teamed of hardened builders continued as before. Most of the work involved the installing of storage heaters in what is to be our temporary classroom for the coming year (as the photo on the left shows). Each of the new rooms has been given a first coat of paint. If the electricians and plumbers can finish, it is thought that we may be moving into our new rooms by the middle of the week. Staff are starting to pack their belongings in anticipation of the move.
Wednesday finally came and the painters put a few final touches to the outside of our temporary school, before we moved classes across. The children then took over...
... got stuck in, moved there own classes (5th and 6th) and then tackled the Infants. A couple of hours and the work was mostly done. There just remained the job of sorting it!
